Anyone can learn how to write beautiful calligraphy—it just takes practice and patience. The pointed pen beginner’s workshop will teach you everything you need to get started with dip calligraphy, without ever making you feel intimidated. We’ll review equipment (pen holders, nibs, different ink types, papers, etc.), technique (holding the pen, dipping the pen in ink, understanding ink flow and pen pressure), letterforms, basic layouts, and troubleshooting.
Learning letterforms will empower you to create beautiful letters for a variety of things in your everyday life. The possibilities are endless!
Materials included (for class and to take home!):
- 2 hours of personalized instruction
- 1 pen holder
- 2 copperplate nibs
- 1 pot of black ink
- 1 post of metallic ink
- Holder for ink pots
- 1 alphabet set, lowercase and uppercase
- Worksheets with practice words and exercises
- 10% off our in-shop purchases the day of the workshop
Class recommended for ages 16 and above. Each workshop is hosted in our San Antonio shop and studio, unless otherwise noted. Space is limited for each workshop, and seats are sold on a first come, first served basis. All workshop sales are final and non-refundable.
