Cyanotype Stationery

This workshop will introduce you to the world of cyanotype printing! Cyanotype printing is a method of printing long used in history that involves using the sun along with iron-based chemicals that creates a beautiful, distinctive cyan-blue image. You will learn the basics of all things cyanotype, including what it is, and how to do it, culminating in being able to print your very own sun prints. By the end of the workshop you will have a hand printed piece, as well as custom pieces.
Phase 1:
1. Intro to Cyanotype: What is cyanotype? Processing methods and preparation.
2. Object Placing: Select impression objects to "print" and arrangements (4 - 6).
3. Sun Exposure: Secure all arrangements and place outside for printing (10 - 12 minute exposure.)
Phase 2:
1. Rinse: rinse the exposed print for full design.
2. Drying & Rest: drying best practices and extending the life of your prints.
This is a hands-on guided workshop open to all levels. All materials will be provided!
Workshop includes:
- Print-ready stationery and cards
- Impression objects (flowers, greenery, etc)
- Instructional guidebook for use in class and at home
- 10% off in-store purchases the day of the event
Each workshop is hosted in the Belle & Union San Antonio shop and studio, unless otherwise noted. Space is limited for each workshop, and seats are sold on a first come, first served basis. This session is open to all of those 16 or older. All workshop sales are final and non-refundable.
