Belle's Book Club
led by Michelle Grajeda
Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 3pm to 5pm
It's not just because Belle's Book Club loves letters that we are reading Virginia Evans' quietly resonant The Correspondent. It's also because the novel's protagonist, Sybil Van Antwerp, is a flawed and endearing human being, whose diminishing eyesight is accompanied by growing insights about herself and the world around her, discoveries she could not perceive in her youth. The recipients of Sybil's letters range from her estranged daughter, Fiona, to the American writer Joan Didion--and through these communications we learn about one woman's journey through the pages of a complicated life, and whether redemption is possible once certain pages have been turned.
Upon registration, participants will receive a set of guided reading questions with a suggested reading schedule and recommended resources. On the day of book club, they will receive a swag bag full of goodies apt for the theme of the book and book lovers alike. For novel purchases, may we suggest ordering from Nowhere Bookshop or visiting your local Barnes & Noble!
